Direct funding

Direct Funding makes up the majority of our work. We accept applications such as concept notes or fellowship applications through a public call that we call a Request. Then we work with you to gather more information for a proposal and scope of work to define your effort. Then we sign a contract. This process could begin with concept note submission on our website from an organization, an individual submitting a fellowship application, or a rapid response application for a digital emergency, such as an active protest or election. In-Direct Support through our Accelerator has become a strong new center of our work. We’ve found that really good ideas often come from individuals and small organizations who might lack critical resources to support the proposed effort. They might just cost too much for a single project so OTF packs them into its’ Accelerator and gives them away for free. It has become the new entry-point for many emerging ideas. Often, a project receives in-kind support via the Accelerator first, then applies for Direct Support when it’s ready. Accelerator Apply
